What should I do

Your Question

My friend is geting biked what should I do

Answer

Hi there, thanks for your question!

You are wondering what to do as your friend is getting biked. Would we be right in thinking you are talking about your friend being left out, being excluded?

Firstly, we want to say that it’s incredibly brave of you to reach out and ask for advice about your friend’s situation. Witnessing a friend being bullied can be really tough, and it’s completely understandable that you’d want to help them.

The most important thing to do is to be there for your friend and let them know that they’re not alone. Encourage them to talk about what’s happening and reassure them that it’s not their fault. Remind them that there are people who care about them and want to help. Here is an article on social exclusion you may find helpful www.childline.ie/what-is-social-exclusion/.

It’s also important to take action to stop the bullying. This could mean speaking to a trusted adult, like a teacher or school counsellor, who can intervene and support both your friend and the person being bullied.

Remember, it’s ok to get support for yourself too. Witnessing bullying can be distressing, and it’s important to talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling. Here is another article from the Childline website that could offer some suggestions to you www.childline.ie/what-to-do-if-your-classmate-or-friend-is-being-bullied/.

Lastly, if you or your friend ever need someone to talk to, remember that Childline is here for you. You can reach out to us anytime, day or night, for confidential and non-judgmental support. Just call us at 1800 66 66 66 or message us on our website at www.childline.ie. We’re here to help, no matter what.

Well done on being a good friend! Get in touch with us again if you would like more support,
Alex
