If a person had sex with a 9-year-old, this is child sexual abuse as this is sexual abuse. This article explains about what sexual abuse is www.childline.ie/what-is-sexual-abuse/.  

In Ireland, child sexual abuse is against the law. However, in order for the person who has committed this crime, to be put on the sex offender’s register, it is crucial  that this is reported without delay.  

To report abuse, contact the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or visit/phone your local Garda station. This abuse should also be reported to Túsla, the Child and Family Agency in Ireland. Their job is to make sure every child under the age of 18, is safe and getting the support they need. It is important that you speak to an adult you trust, so that they can report what has happened to the 9-year old child. This adult may be a relative, teacher or a family friend.  

Every child deserves to always feel safe, protected, and free from harm and abuse.
