The Ask Alex service is part of the ISPCC Childline service. In short, the purpose of the ISPCC is to listen, empower, and strengthen the resilience of young people to help them live their best possible lives. The ISPCC also strives to make child protection a national priority and has a long, proud history of advocating on behalf of young people.

 

To achieve all of the above, we provide a range of different services. You can find out more about what we do and the various services we offer on our website www.ispcc.ie.

 

Childline Listening is probably our most well-known service. Childline is a free, confidential listening service for young people in Ireland up to and including the age of 18. Childline is always here for young people as it never closes. It is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Childline offers young people a non-judgmental space where they can talk about whatever is on their minds. Childline helps young people build their coping skills by empowering them to explore support options that work for them.

 

Childline also provides information and advice on various issues that young people find hard to cope with. This information can be accessed by reading the answers to the Ask Alex questions or by reading the different articles on the Childline website Childline.ie.

 

Some other things the ISPCC does are giving talks to schools and clubs. We also discuss various matters that concern young people with the government so that they can make laws and policies that help young people live their best lives. In addition, we provide support to parents so they can better support their children.
