Topic: Visiting your Dr
Your Question
Hi pat . I’m just wondering if you have to be a certain age to visit your doctor on your own. Or if they would have to contact your parents once you visit ? Thanks

Thank you for your email.
It sounds like you have questions in relation to visiting your GP. It is important to understand that you have the right to get medical help when you need it. You can visit your GP at any age but your GP would have a duty of care to include your parents/care givers if you are under the age of 18.
You can find out more information on our website (childline.ie) or you are more than welcome to call us for a chat if there was anything you wanted to talk about, 1800 666 666
