Your Question

Hi Alex I’ve a serious question, So me and my girlfriend were having intercourse, she’s on the pill and takes it everyday at the same time and I always use condoms but the condom broke this time. I did not ejaculate inside her. Do you think anything bad has happened?

Answer

Hey there, welcome to Ask Alex.

We’re really glad you reached out with your question. It’s important to talk about these things openly and get the support you need. We understand that this situation might be causing you some worry, but please know that you’re not alone.

It sounds like you and your girlfriend have been taking precautions, which is commendable. Accidents can happen, like the condom breaking, but there are steps you can take. While there’s always a risk of pregnancy with unprotected intercourse, the fact that your girlfriend is on the pill and you didn’t ejaculate inside her can lower that risk. However, it’s still important to consider emergency contraception and talk to a healthcare professional for personalised advice, without delay.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need someone to talk to, there are resources available to you. You can visit the website b4udecide.ie for information and support regarding sexual health decisions. You’re never alone, and it’s okay to ask for support when you need it.

Look after yourself, we hope everything works out for you both,
