Answer

Hi there, you are very welcome to Ask Pat.

You’re asking if you should talk to your parents about calling Childline to talk about your issues. We would not be able to say whether you should or should not do something. Childline is a listening service which means we are here to listen to whatever is going on for you and to help support you through it. If you feel comfortable telling your parents that you are calling Childline that is fine.

You do have the right to privacy and your calls with Childline are confidential and you also have the right to talk about what is going on for you with a trusted adult.

Do you think you would be comfortable telling your parents that you are planning to call Childline and do you think you might then be comfortable telling them what you feel your issues are? Or would you prefer to talk privately to Childline first? It is important to know that whatever you decide, that is ok, it is your decision.

You are very welcome to talk about this more with Childline on 1800 66 66 66, or you can text us on 50101, or you can talk to us here on our LiveChat.

Thanks very much for Asking Pat today and we hope to hear from you again soon.
