We’re really glad you reached out with this question. Dealing with period pain can be tough, and it’s totally normal to have questions about it.

 

So, why does your stomach hurt during your period? When your body is shedding the uterine lining during menstruation, it releases chemicals which trigger contractions in the uterus to help it expel the lining. But sometimes, they can also cause cramps in your stomach and lower back.
