Topic: Panic attacks

Your Question

I get panic attacks and have OCD. My family give out to me a lot for getting stressed and upset at how unorganized or gross my brother is and when I’m at school, one boy says I don’t have OCD if my iPad isn’t facing straight forward, but I just have it at an angle so I can see it. I try to tell him there’s different types and levels of OCD, but he just puts all his stuff on my desk. Is there anything I can do about it? Thanks.

Hi. Welcome to Ask Pat.

It sounds like there is a lot going on for you. You mention that you get panic attacks, get stressed and upset and indicate that you have OCD. You mention that there is a boy in school who puts his stuff on your desk and this upsets you.

You have a right to your own space in your classroom and its okay to let this boy know that he is invading your space and this isn’t okay.

It would be important to get help and support around your stress and panic attacks. You have a right to get medical help with this if you haven’t done so already. There is some information that you might find useful on the support pages of this website.

There is also support and information on yourmentalhealth.ie. This is a site provided by the HSE. There you can find information about many issues related to mental health and about other support services.

You can also talk to Childline by phoning 1800 66 66 66 (24 hours a day), by texting to 50101 (10am – 4am every day) or by chatting online on this site (10am – 4am every day).
