Topic: My mother never listens

Your Question

My mother never listens to anything I say, even when I told her I’d rather be dead than living right now, she acts as if everything I do is burdensome (complaining about having to give me lunch money, cook my dinner, print of forms I need) so much so that I now fear having to ask her for anything

It sounds like things are difficult between you and your mother right now. Childline would be concerned that things are so difficult for you at home. You have the right to get help and support around the way you are feeling. Parents has the responsibility to support you and provide for all your basic needs such as food, clothes, educational needs etc, and it sounds like this seems to be a problem right now. You have the right to be heard and listened to and also the right to be happy.
You may find some useful tips on the Childline website at www.childline.ie under the heading “Info and Advice” which has a section on families.
Also, the Childline phone service is open 24 hours a day on 1800 66 66 66, or you can text to 5010, our FreeText service. Childline is a confidential service and we would never judge you.
