Welcome to Ask Pat,

Thank you for contacting us with your question. It sounds like you are wondering that if you are experiencing emotional abuse should you report it to the GardaĆ.Ā

You have the right to get support if you feel you are being abused. You have the right to be listened to and to be heard about what you are experiencing. Sometimes talking about what we are going through with a trusted adult, can help us to make decisions.

Remember, young people have the right to report any concerns of abuse to Social Workers through TUSLA or to the GardaĆ.

On the Childline website www.childline.ie there are a number of useful articles where you might find help, get more information and supports that are relevant to you.

Donā€™t forget, you can always phone Childline on 1800 66 66 66 to talk about what is going on for you. We are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our text service 50101 and Web Chat service through www.childline.ie , are also available daily. While we do not tell you what to do here at Childline, we are here to listen to and support you and to help you to explore the options that are available to you in your life, to help you in a way that suits you.

Take care,
Pat
