Hi there, welcome to the ask Alex service. We’re glad you were able to get in touch to ask your question. 

Yes, you can talk to Childline if you are 18 years old because our service offers 24-hour support to all young people up to and including the age of 18. Our services include our free webchat service which can be accessed on our website: www.childline.ie. There, you can make your own account and use it to chat about what’s going on for you. Our service also caters for young people who would like to use our free text service which you can contact by texting 50101 anytime you would like to talk. Finally, our 24-hour freephone line can be reached by calling 1800 66 66 66.

All our services are completely confidential, non-judgmental and offer a safe space for young people to talk about anything on their mind, it doesn’t always have to be something serious or a problem you are experiencing. If you would like to chat about your hobbies, your pets or your favourite t.v. show, then you are welcome to contact us! Our call facilitators are highly skilled individuals who are trained to offer young people support and they have the knowledge and experience to be there for young people with anything they may be going through at the time.
