Alex's Answer

I'd like to help with Childline

Your Question

Hi I’m 16 and want to get involved with childline. Id like to offer help in research or take surveys, anything in the lines of that. I think it’s a wonderful service and children should be made more aware of it and how it works and would love to try spread the message.

Answer

Hi there, welcome to Ask Alex.

We are delighted to hear that you have a positive view of our service and that you want to spread our message. To volunteer with our Childline Listening service, you need to be 21 years old.

However, there are other ways you can help Childline. We love hearing the opinions and voices of young people in making our service stronger.  You might be interested in getting involved with our Youth Participation Programme.  Here’s the link to the page for further information: www.ispcc.ie/youth-participation/

Another great way to promote our message is to organise fundraising events in your school or local community.  Here is a link to our fundraising page which you may find helpful: www.ispcc.ie/volunteer-to-raise-funds/

If you would like to discuss anything further, you can ring Childline on 1800 66 66 66 or chat with us on our online chat services at www.childline.ie (just click on the orange Live Chat tab). Childline services are free and confidential, and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We would be delighted to hear from you.

Take care of yourself,

Alex
