Hi there, you are very welcome to Ask Pat today.
You are saying that you feel you may have an eating disorder. You binge eat and you say you have always been overweight, and you are classified as obese for our age. You are also worried for your health and say that you are the biggest size in most stores but are unable to make changes alone. You are worried and feel bad and do not have any support system in place.
You are extremely brave to say all those things about yourself, well done for that. That was a very courageous thing for you to do. It sounds like you are really down about your size and that you want to get help. It is always okay to ask for help and it is never too late.
You have the right to be happy as a child and you have the right to be heard which means you have the right to get help. There are support services available for people in your situation.
BodyWhys is a service that can offer help and support to young people who feel they have some questions about their bodies. You can find them here www.bodywhys.ie and their phone number is 1890 200 444. There is also an article about ‘our bodies’ on the Childline website www.childline.ie/my-body.
Alternatively, Childline is here for you 24/7 by phone at 1800 66 66 66, by text at 50101, or by live chat at www.childline.ie. All of our services are free, confidential and non- judgmental. We are here to offer support and to help you explore the options that are available to you. We would be delighted to hear from you.
Thank you for contacting us here at Ask Pat and we wish you well.
