Answer
Many thanks for contacting us and you are
very welcome to Ask Pat.
you are asking what to do if you think you were sexually assaulted? It sounds
like you are not too sure and you would have the right to get help and support
around what is going on for you. If someone were to sexually assault you it
would be a very serious offence and you would have the right to go to the
gardai and make a complaint. No one would have the right to sexually assault you.
you would have the right to talk to a
trusted adult and discuss your feelings with them, perhaps a Parent, Teacher,
or a Relative.
There are support services out there that
would talk with you and support you in this difficult time, the Rape Crisis Centre
run a 24 hour helpline at 1800778888, they would be able to give you advice and
help. That is also a freephone number.
You have been very brave to contact us and
you have the right to get help from someone that can help you through this
difficult time.
We wish you well.
We here at Childline can offer you support
and are happy to explore your options if you would like to give us a call at
1800 666 666, we are here 24 hours a day and it is a freephone number also.
