Answer

Welcome to Ask Pat,

You have been really brave reaching out to us with how you are feeling. It sounds like there is a lot going on for you and that you are struggling to deal these feelings on your own. However, we are very concerned if we hear of a young person who says they want to kill themselves. Young people have the right to support to help them understand themselves and how they feel. A trusted adult can be a support to young people, who might that trusted adult be in your life? You have the right to talk to someone trusted about how you want to kill yourself. It sounds like you are looking for answers of what to do when you feel down.

Childline are here to listen to you without judgement and explore with you the options that you feel may help you to work out what is making you feel so low. We would believe that talking makes us stronger, talking helps people to reach out and get the support that is there. Our Childline website has further information that you may find helpful, in the section called ‘Info and Advice’ there is a section called ‘How I feel’, you might find it useful to see what information is there. You could also contact Pieta House for more information on how to be supported with these thoughts of suicide at www.pieta.ie.

Remember when you talk to Childline, you can talk through your thoughts, feelings and options. Childline do not judge what you say and your chat can stay confidential. You can call us, 24/7 on 1800 66 66 66 or text us at 50101, both these services are free. You can also log into the Live Messaging service on this website, and chat to us there. We are always here for you.

Take care,
Pat.
