Alex's Answer

I need somebody to talk to, but I have no one

Your Question

Hey Alex, I wanted to ask for help/advice. At the moment I need someone to talk to but I don’t feel like I have that one person that I can speak to. I’m at my lowest at the moment mentally but, I’m at my highest in.. life? Everything is going so well for me, but yet when I’m alone I feel it, badly. I have a girlfriend and best friends around me but I have backed off completely recently and I don’t know why. I don’t really know why I’m on Childline in the first place but I was just wondering is this normal or ever seen before?

Answer

Hello there, thanks so much for getting in touch with us,

We are really glad you reached out, it takes a lot of courage to open up about your feelings. It sounds like you’re experiencing a mix of highs and lows, and it’s okay to feel a bit lost in the midst of it all. It’s not uncommon for people to have moments of uncertainty, even when everything seems to be going well externally.

We want you to know that what you’re going through is valid, and you’re not alone. It’s entirely normal to crave someone to talk to, especially during challenging times. It’s positive that you recognise the need for support, and it’s okay to lean on the people around you, like your girlfriend and best friends.

Backing off from social interactions can happen for various reasons, and sometimes, it might be helpful to explore those feelings with someone you trust. If you’re struggling to pinpoint the cause, that’s alright too; understanding ourselves can take time. Remember, your emotions are valid, and looking for guidance or someone to talk to can be a positive step forward. You have the right to professional help too, should you need it.

If you ever feel the need to talk further, don’t hesitate to reach out. You can always contact us at Childline by freephone 1800 66 66 66 or through Live Chat at www.childline.ie. We’re here for you, confidential, non-judgmental, and open 24/7, ready to support you for any reason, any time.

Take care of yourself and know that your feelings matter. We are here for you when you are ready to reach out,
Alex
