Answer

Hi there, welcome to Ask Pat.

Thank you for getting in touch and sharing your thoughts with us.

You are telling us you haven’t reached puberty. Would we be right in thinking that this may be causing you concern?

It is understandable that you may be worried because you have not hit puberty yet and it is normal to compare yourself to others. Puberty happens at different times for everyone. Puberty is something everybody goes through. Some changes to our bodies happen quicker than others, and at different times to your friends. It may feel embarrassing to talk about the changes you are going through, especially with your parents, but you do have the right to talk to somebody you trust. You have the right to know about what changes are happening to your body and you have the right to information and support.

The Childline website has an article on puberty which you might like to look at www.childline.ie/puberty/. Maybe you would like to talk with Childline too? We would love to listen to you, and you are welcome to contact us anytime.

Childline is here for you whenever you are ready to get in touch. At Childline we focus on you and what is important to you. The services are free and available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The Team do not judge anything you say or do and will listen to everything you wish to share. The ways in which you can get in contact with us are through the telephone service at 1800 66 66 66, through the text service on 50101, or by web chat that you access through the website www.childline.ie.

We hope that you find some of the above helpful. Please get in touch with us again, we would really like to talk or chat with you.

Take care of yourself,

Pat
