Answer

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us at Ask Alex! That’s a brave first step to finding the support you’re seeking.

Sharing our thoughts and feelings with someone can seem daunting and maybe even overwhelming, and often, the hardest part is taking that leap and having the first conversation with someone. You could try speaking to a trusted adult about your thoughts and concerns, but if you feel more comfortable speaking to someone anonymously, you are always welcome to contact Childline and start with just saying hello – we are always here to listen!

Childline is a 24/7 listening service for those 18 years and younger living in Ireland. It’s a safe space to talk about anything on your mind: your thoughts, feelings, or even just your day. We don’t judge or tell you what to do. Childline also has a webchat service if you do not feel comfortable having a voice conversation initially.

To access the web chat service through our website www.childline.ie, click on the orange ‘Live Chat‘ icon on the right side of the screen, and you can begin an anonymous chat with one of our facilitators. You don’t need to log in to do this.

If you would prefer to talk with us, you can call us at our freephone number 1800 66 66 66. Our phone service is also open 24 hours a day, every day. We have facilitators waiting to chat with you about whatever it is you want to talk about. Nothing is too big or too small.

We hope you feel comfortable contacting us if you ever feel you want to talk.

Take care of yourself,

Alex
