I can't get to sleep
I can’t sleep any tips
Hi there and welcome to Ask Alex,
We hope you found it helpful being able to ask your question and hopefully this answer might give you the information you’re looking for.
From what you’ve said, it sounds like you’ve been having trouble sleeping. This can understandably be very difficult as lack of sleep can impact on us in so many ways and can also be caused by a wide variety of things in our lives. Have you taken some time to think of what may be stopping you from sleeping?
Sometimes it could be our surroundings, busy lifestyle, physical or mental wellbeing or it could be that you have a lot on your mind, and having many thoughts or worries can certainly impact on our ability to get a restful night’s sleep. Maybe trying to figure out the potential cause of this could be a good place to start. Perhaps trying something new like taking a walk or meditation could also be an option to look into.
At times it can be hard to pinpoint what’s going on for us as well, so chatting with someone we are close to can be a good idea if there is something we are struggling with. Taking time out to talk to a friend, family member or trusted adult could help us gain clarity on things and come up with a plan to help our situation.
If you feel that talking to someone close to you would not be an option for you, Childline has other forms of support that could be helpful to you.
