Answer

Hi there , you are very welcome to Ask Pat, and thank you for contacting us.

You are asking how do you know if you need hospital treatment for mental health issues?

If you feel like you are having issues with your mental health you would have the right to seek medical attention. Your GP may be able to help you with how you are feeling and may be able to refer you on for help and support. It is very important that you would look after your mental health and you are very brave in asking that question.  Every child has the right to be safe and happy.

You may find some useful information on the HSE website at www.yourmentalhealth.ie. Also, on the childline website we have some useful tips in the INFO and ADVICE SECTION.

We here at childline are here to  listen, support and help you to explore the options that are available to you so please feel free to phone us at 1800 666 666 as you might find it helpful to chat with us  and our service is confidential.

We wish you well.

Take care

Pat
