Answer

Hi there, thanks so much for sharing what’s going on for you with us.

Firstly, we want to say we’re really sorry you’re going through this. It takes a lot of courage to speak up about something as difficult as this, and we want you to know that your feelings are valid. It’s completely understandable to feel scared and anxious about the boy coming back to school after what happened.

It’s important to prioritise your safety and well-being above all else. If you feel uncomfortable or threatened by his return, don’t hesitate to reach out to a trusted adult, like a teacher or counsellor, and let them know how you’re feeling. You have the right to feel safe at school, and they should take your concerns seriously.

If you feel uneasy or threatened by the situation, it’s important to trust your instincts. Don’t ignore your feelings or brush them aside. Don’t hesitate to lean on friends, family, or other trusted adults for support. Talking about what happened with someone you trust can help you process your emotions and make decisions about how to move forward. Keep a record of any further incidents or interactions with the boy, should they occur. This documentation can be valuable if you need to take further action to protect yourself.

Remember, you are never alone in this. There are people who care about you and want to support you through this challenging time. The Childline team is here for you, ready to listen and help you explore your options. Whether you want to talk on the phone or message online, we are available 24/7, completely free of charge. You can reach out to us anytime at 1800 66 66 66 or through our website at www.Childline.ie, by clicking on the purple Messenger circle and begin your chat.

Take care of yourself, and know that there are people who believe you and want to help you through this. You deserve to feel safe and respected at school and everywhere else.
