You are very welcome to Ask Alex. We are one of the Childline services provided by ISPCC (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). This service is a space where young people can ask a question that maybe they wouldn’t feel comfortable asking somebody they know. Your question is anonymous, which means we do not know who you are or where you are from. 

We get all types of questions from young people around Ireland; questions about family issues, school, friendships and hobbies. We try to answer questions within a few days of receiving them. If your question is not answered, it may be because we have already answered a similar question recently. 

However, if you would like to have a conversation with one of the Childline Team, we have a 24-hour service, which you can access anytime, for any reason. You can phone for free at 1800 66 66 66 or webchat through Childline.ie. This service should also be used if your question requires an immediate answer, or you need support right away

Each of these 3 services are confidential, which means we do not have access to your phone number or your IP address. So they are safe and secure spaces for young people to talk/chat/rant.
