Feeling trapped

Your Question

What do I do if I feel trapped

Answer

Hello there, thanks for your question,

Welcome to Ask Alex; we want to acknowledge the courage it takes to reach out and share what you’re going through. Feeling trapped can be an incredibly distressing experience, and it’s important to know that you’re not alone in this. Many young people face similar challenges and emotions at some point in their lives.

It’s ok to feel overwhelmed by these feelings, but it’s also important to remember that there are ways to get through them. One step you can take is to confide in someone you trust, whether it’s a family member, friend, teacher, or counsellor. Opening up about what you’re going through can help lighten the burden and provide you with much-needed support.

If you ever feel unsafe or in immediate danger at home, or anywhere else, please don’t hesitate to contact the emergency services at 999 or 112. Your safety is the number one priority, and there are people ready to help you, no matter the time or day.

Additionally, Childline is here to support young people like yourself. The Childline team is available 24/7 to listen, provide guidance, and explore your options with you. You can contact us for free by calling 1800 66 66 66 or through our Messenger service at Childline.ie (just click on the purple Messenger tab).

Remember, you deserve to feel safe and supported, and there are people who genuinely care about your well-being. You’re not alone in this journey, and together, we can find ways to help you feel less trapped and more empowered to create positive change in your life.

Please take the next step and reach out to somebody or Childline real soon,

Alex
