Answer

Hello,

You’re really welcome to Ask Alex today; thanks so much for getting in contact with us and letting us know a little bit about what is going on for you right now.

It sounds like there is a lot happening for you, you feel as though your foster parents are interfering with your life, there are some people you don’t want in your life anymore, and you’re not feeling safe.

We’re concerned to hear that you don’t feel safe with some people in your life and that you’re not sure, but you think they might be planning to kill you. Your safety is incredibly important. If you ever feel like you are in immediate danger, we would encourage you to contact the Gardaí on 112/999, and let them know that you don’t feel safe. It is their duty to protect you.

No one has the right to make you feel unsafe, to threaten you or to lie to you. You talk about your foster parents interfering and lying about your life, but we’re not sure what exactly this looks like for you. Have you ever been able to talk to them? It would be really important that you let someone know about how unsafe you feel, and that you’re being followed around by people that don’t work with you anymore. If you don’t feel like you can talk to your foster parents, would there be another person in your life you feel comfortable with?

You mention that you heard a few of these people talking about cannibalism. You think maybe they’re planning to kill you. Those thoughts sound like they could be very distressing, and it’s vital to have ways to help calm your mind. Perhaps your GP could give you some information on supports that are available in your local area.

The Childline team is always here for you if you would like to talk, and let us know how things for you. We can support you and help you figure out what the best solution is for you. We’re here 24/7, and there is always someone here to listen, either on our webchat (click on the purple Messenger circle) or over the phone (1800 66 66 66) any time of the day or night.

You are so brave to reach out to us, and we would love to hear from you again.

Take care of yourself, know that you do not have to go through anything on your own,

Alex
