Your Question

Hi Pat, my children’s rights were breached. I was mistreated in primary school by two teachers and a principal. I’m psychology effected I’m diagnosed with school related anxiety. I never finished my primary school education and I never done my secondary education. I have no junior certificate or leaving certificate. Answer

Welcome to Ask Pat.

It sounds as if you are doing all you can to further your education, Unfortunately you have not had much success in the educational system and it is understandable that this can have an effect on your mental health causing you anxiety.

You mention that you don’t feel that the government bodies listened to you causing you additional stress. All children and young people have a right for an education by law. You can still further your education through different education platforms.

Would you have a trusted adult in your life that may be able to help you with your strengths and to support you to choose a course in the areas that you are interested in? Also when you go back to study, there are some study tips in the Homework and Revision pages of this website that you might find helpful.

If you are stressed or concerned about not having a qualification you are not alone. Help and support is available.

Childline is always available to listen to you and support you. You can call Childline on 1800 66 66 66 (24 hours a day), text Childline on 50101 or chat with Childline online on this site.

Take care,
Pat
