Alex's Answer

Can I talk to Childline without parental permission

Your Question

Do I need my parents permission to talk?

Answer

Hi there and welcome to Ask Alex.

Thank you for reaching out to us with your thoughts. You have asked, ‘Do you need your parents’ permission to talk to Childline?’ and this is a great question!

Childline’s main purpose is to give young people a safe space to talk. It is confidential as long as you do not provide us with identifying information, and you do not need permission to call us! Childline is a support service for all children and young people up to the age of 18 in Ireland. We aim to empower, support, and protect young people like you every day.

You don’t have to have a problem to get in touch with Childline. You can talk to us in confidence about anything that may be on your mind; nothing is too big or too small. We would love to hear about your pets, your favourite TV shows, or what you love about your friends. We are here to listen to the heavier stuff too: break-ups, bullying, trouble at home, and we will never judge or tell you what to do.
