Answer

Hi there, thank you for reaching out to Ask Alex and sharing how you feel!

It’s totally understandable that you feel scared about moving from primary to secondary school. This is a big transition in your life, and not knowing how it will go can cause worry and uncertainty. Primary and secondary schools may also differ in lots of ways, such as being bigger, starting and finishing at different times, and introducing new subjects. You are going from being the eldest in the school to now the youngest. Please know that how you feel is perfectly okay!

The fact that you are reaching out shows that you are trying to make sure you feel supported through this transition. It’s important you have support during this change in your life.

Have you spoken about how you feel to any of your friends? More than likely, they may also share some of your fears, and together you could support each other and find ways to get through this change. Alternatively, you could reach out to an adult you trust and share how you feel with them. They may be able to help give you the support you need and listen to your worries.
