Will an adult get into trouble for contacting Childline?

Your Question

If an adult contacts Childline what will happen, would they be in trouble?

Answer

Hi there and welcome to Ask Alex,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your question.  It sounds like you’re wondering about what would happen if an adult contacted Childline.

Childline offers support to all young people up to and including those aged 18 years.  These services include our free webchat (www.childline.ie), text (50101) or phone call (1800 66 66 66) service which are all available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.  All our services are free, confidential, and non-judgemental.

Do you know that we also provide support to adults such as parents and carers too? If an adult contacts us here at Childline, we try our best to direct them to the right place for their concerns. Adults are more than welcome to use our Support Line service which is available through the phone 9-1pm Monday to Friday (01 522 4300), or they can have a look at all the advice and support available at our parenting hub (https://www.ispcc.ie/parenting-hub/).

We hope that this has answered your question and gave you some reassurance.

Thanks, and take care,

Alex
