Pat's Answer

Why do people treat me badly?

Your Question

Why do people treat me badly

Answer

Hi there, and welcome to Ask Pat.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear that people have been treating you badly. Here at Childline we would be concerned to hear that any young person is being treated badly. You have the right to be happy and to be treated with respect and kindness by everyone. No one has the right to treat you badly.

Have you spoken to anyone yet about what has been going on? Perhaps there is a trusted adult in your life who you could talk to? It could be a parent, relative, teacher or any other adult you feel comfortable talking to.

There are people whose job it is to keep children in Ireland safe, such as social workers in Tusla. If you would like to find out more about how Tusla can help you, you can visit the Changing Futures website here: https://changingfutures.ie/. This website was created for young people by young people with experience of Tusla services.

If you are ever in immediate danger, you should contact the emergency services on 112 or 999.

If you would prefer to have a chat with us, you can contact Childline by visiting our website at www.childline.ie. There are three ways that you can talk to us: by web chat, by text on 50101 or by calling us on 1800 66 66 66. Childline are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So, whatever way you feel comfortable contacting us, we will be here to listen.

Thanks again for your message. We really hope this response will be helpful for you but if you need any more information, we would love to hear from you again.

Take care,

Pat
