You have asked why do you want to be raped so bad. First, we think that it is really brave that you reached out to ask this question as it sounds like this thought is taking up a lot of space in your mind.

We think it is important to first talk about the word rape. Sometimes people may have different understandings of what the word rape means. Any type of sexual activity without consent, is rape. You have a right to know that in Ireland, the legal age to give consent is 17. This means that when you are under 17, you cannot give consent. If a young person is over 17, they still have the right to choose when and to who, they give their consent.

It is normal and healthy to be curious about sex. Thoughts about “wanting to be raped” may be related to guilt avoidance. Sometimes when we come from a background or upbringing where talking about sex is frowned upon or is a taboo, having thoughts about ‘rape’ may help us experience sexual exploration without carrying the guilt or shame of engaging in an act that others may look upon as embarrassing.
