What happens if a child tells you theyre going to commit suicide?

Answer
Welcome to Ask Pat.
If a child tell us that they are going to end their life by suicide we take this very seriously. We would listen to the child without judgement and explore with the child if he/she wants help.
If the child wants help and tells us their name and where they are located we would immediately contact the emergency services.
If a child tells Childline that they are having thoughts of suicide but are not in immediate danger we would listen to the child’s thoughts and feelings and inform them about help options.
