Pat's Answer

There's no point in moving forward

Your Question

Why do I feel like there’s no point moving further in life even another day?

Answer

Hi, you are so welcome to Ask Pat.

You have taken the right steps in reaching out to us, that is such a brave thing to do, thank you.

You say that you feel like there is no point in moving further in your life. You do not feel like going forward even another day. We know it can be difficult to look forward to the future especially in uncertain times of life. It seems that you are struggling with your thoughts and feelings.

We are sorry you are feeling low, thinking that you do not have a future. We are concerned to hear you feel like there is no point in moving forward in your life as you have a right to be happy and live your life. Have you shared how you are feeling with anybody? You do have a right to talk to a trusted adult, such as a parent, guardian, teacher, or school counsellor. We realise sometimes it can be hard to talk to someone face to face about how we are feeling. Do you know you that you have a right to seek professional help, to talk to your doctor? Or maybe you need the support of a counsellor. You have a right to be listened to.

There are organisations and supports for young people going though maybe how you are feeling and what you are thinking. www.yourmentalhealth.ie  is a website you might like to look at  and get some information which may help and guide you the support you deserve. The Childline website also has articles you may like to look at for support  www.childline.ie/how-i-feel/ or at www.childline.ie/suicide. You do not need to go through this alone.

If you feel that you cannot talk to anyone around you, Childline would really love to listen to you. You can contact Childline services in a number of ways, by phone on 1800 66 66 66 or by text to 50101 or through our online web chat at www.childline.ie  We will not judge anything you say to us and we will not tell you what to do. We will help you explore what options may be available to you, to help you through this tough time. These services are free and confidential, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Remember you are not alone, Childline is here to listen, and we are here for you.

Take care of yourself,

Pat
