Thank you for reaching out to Ask Alex with your question, you have been very brave in contacting us as we know it can be a hard thing to do.  

You have said that you are afraid of telling your mom that your dad is touching your private parts because you don’t know how she will react. If someone is touching your private parts this is a form of child sexual abuse or molestation. The most important thing to remember is that it is never your fault.

It is common for the adult who is abusing to try to make you feel ashamed of what has happened so that you will keep it a secret and not be tempted to tell anyone. However the only way to stop the abuse is to tell a trusted adult. If you have an adult that you trust in your life, whether it’s your mom, relative or teacher, let them know what’s happening.
