Hi there, welcome to Ask Pat
Thank you for your question and good luck with your return to school.
From what you have said it sounds like you are thinking ahead about seeing other girls at school, and that this makes you think about all the different body shapes and types.
Firstly, it is important to remember that everyone is unique our bodies aren’t all the same, and that’s perfectly okay!
You mentioned that you have been body shamed before. While it’s quite okay to have certain parts of your body that you are less confident about, remember to also take the time to recognize the parts of your body that you do like. It can be really good to try and focus on the things you are happy about regarding your body. Then, when you are caught up with thoughts about other girls’ bodies and possibly comparing theirs to yours, try remember these positive things about your body. Sometimes, if you are finding it hard to find nice things about your body, it can be a good idea to ask someone you trust to share with you the things that they like about you.
Everyone has a different opinion about how they and others look so it’s important to remember there is no such thing as the “perfect” body. Our bodies are incredible, and it’s important that we try to keep healthy. People keep their bodies healthy in different ways, but this can include eating well, staying hydrated, exercising and getting enough sleep.
As time goes on, our bodies can change as different things go on in our bodies at the various stages in our lives. Puberty in particular is a time in our lives when our bodies change so much.
Remember there is only one of you and that you don’t need to change yourself to be like anyone else, you are perfect the way you are. You are yourself, and you are unique.
