People hate us

Your Question

Hey alex. Basically I’m a Christian, and, I love God. Yknow, I go to church, I pray, I read the bible, etc. And, I keep seeing things like bumper stickers that say “kids are safer at drag shows than at church” and like “Christians are homophobic.” But the REAL Christian arent. There’s people who say they’re Christian, but they don’t read the bible, etc. I don’t know. I’m sorry if I’m offensive but idk. Also its making me feel bad. People hate all Christians. So yeah. I just feel bad that people hate us.

Answer

Hey there, welcome to Ask Alex!

Firstly, we want to acknowledge your feelings and thank you for reaching out. It’s clear you care deeply about your faith and are feeling hurt by the negative perceptions you’re encountering. It’s completely normal to feel confused and upset when your beliefs are challenged in this way.

It’s important to remember that everyone’s right to their own religion and beliefs is protected. Under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, every young person has the right to their own thoughts, conscience, and religion. This means your right to be a Christian and to practice your faith should be respected, just as you should respect others’ rights to their beliefs.

There are many people in the world, and they all have different views and experiences. Sometimes, these views can clash, but that doesn’t mean you have to change who you are or what you believe. It’s ok to stand by your faith while also being open to understanding others’ perspectives. True Christians, as you said, aim to live with love, kindness, and understanding.

Feeling like people hate all Christians can be really tough. However, it’s important to remember that not everyone feels that way, and many people appreciate and respect diverse beliefs. If you ever feel overwhelmed or need to talk, reaching out for support can be really helpful.
