The most important thing you can do is to encourage your friend to look for immediate help from a trusted adult. They need someone who can provide them with the necessary support and assistance. Let them know they can the  the Gardaí, if your friend hasn’t already done so, as they can provide the appropriate help and investigation. You can contact them for free at 999 or 112.

 

Remember, you don’t have to handle this on your own. Reach out to your own trusted adults, like parents, guardians, or teachers, and share your concerns with them. They can offer guidance on how to support your online friend during this challenging time.

 

Also, let your friend know about the Childline. The Team are available 24/7 and can be reached at 1800 66 66 66 or through Live Chat at www.Childline.ie. Both are non-judgmental and confidential services, and we are here to provide the support and help that your friend may need.
