Hi, welcome to Ask Alex. Thank you for reaching out to us.
You mention that your girlfriend of a year just broke up with you. You say you are still close friends, but you feel she is not enthusiastic over text anymore. You mention you broke up because she’s starting her sixth year and wants to go to college. Lastly, you say that you love her so much and will wait 296 days until the last day of her Leaving Cert.
We are sorry to hear you are going through a breakup. Breakups are never easy, and it is understandable that you would be unsure about what to do. Have you tried speaking to this girl and telling her exactly how you feel?
It would also be a good idea to speak to a trusted adult about how you are feeling because chances are they may have experienced something similar at some stage in their lives. This adult could be a parent, aunt, uncle, older cousin, neighbor, or youth worker.
If you feel like you are not ready to speak to a trusted adult at the moment, Childline is here for you. We will not judge you, and we can help you look at options that may be available to you. We are open 24 hours every day, so there is always
someone here to talk or chat with you. Our phone number is 1800 66 66 66,
and you can reach our chat service at www.childline.ie

Take care of yourself; we would love to hear from you soon.
