Answer

Hello there and thank you for contacting Ask Alex.

We understand that it can be really difficult to open up about how you are feeling, so thanks for reaching out.

You say you are dealing with suicidal thoughts, and we are sorry to hear this, it must feel really difficult.

Do you know that there are some organisations that help people who have suicidal thoughts or self-harm such as Pieta House (https://www.pieta.ie/) who have a free 24/7 Crisis helpline: 1800 247 247 or Text HELP to 51444, or the Samaratins (https://www.samaritans.org/?currency=EUR&nation=ireland) who also have a free 24hour help line on 116 123.  You could also speak to your GP, who will be able to find the right support for you.

It could also be helpful to speak to an adult you trust, such as a parent, teacher, youth worker or relative.  Speaking to someone we trust can help and ensure that we get the help we need.

Here at Childline, there is a team of people ready to listen to you whenever you are ready to share your thoughts and feelings. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can contact us via phone: 1800 666 666, or through our webchat at https://www.childline.ie/

We would love to hear from you so please get in touch.

Take care,

Alex.
