If I don't know how I feel, how can someone else
Your Question
You know when you can’t even explain what’s wrong with you so why is it that people say you need to ask for help. Help with what, what do I even say. I need you to help me or something like that but I don’t know why I am like this. If I don’t know how will the other person know.
Answer
Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out.
Well done in taking the first step towards getting some help and support for yourself. Sharing with us that you are feeling confused is a very good start. Well Done!
You have said that you are unable to explain what is wrong with you and it sounds like you may need help and some clarity around how you are feeling. It would be very beneficial for you to consider speaking to a therapist or a counsellor so that they can help you to gain clarity, to explore your emotions and thoughts in relation to your situation in a safe space. These trained professionals will be able to work with you and help you understand your situation.
Here at the ISPCC Childline, we have a one-to-one service with professionals called the Childline Therapeutic service where support workers help young people who want to build their emotional resilience and talk about what is going on for them. You can access the service through the website link www.ispcc.ie/child-and-family-support-services/ to find out some more on the service.
We also have a digital anxiety management support service for young people aged 14-18 called the Space from Anxiety Programme which is based on Cognitive Behaviour therapy and includes mindfulness practices. It can be accessed through any smart device at a time that suits you best and you will be supported by a trained ISPCC team member. You can learn more about this service by checking out www.ispcc.ie/guided-digital-programmes/
