Answer
Hi there, welcome to Ask Alex,
Â
We are really sorry to hear that you’re going through a difficult situation with your mom. It’s important to remember that you’re not alone in this. Many young people face challenging family situations, and there are people and resources available to help you.Â
Â
First and foremost, it’s important to talk to a trusted adult about what you’re experiencing. This could be a teacher, school counsellor, or another family member who you feel comfortable with. They can offer support, guidance, and possibly help you talk with your parents.
Â
Your feelings and well-being are a top priority. If you feel unsafe or believe you’re experiencing abuse, it’s really important to reach out to the GardaĂ at 999 or 112. They can provide immediate help and get you support from professionals whose job it is to make sure you are living in a safe home. These people work for TĂşsla, the Child and Family Agency in Ireland.
Â
It’s also a good idea to share your feelings to your dad again, explaining the seriousness of the situation and how it’s impacting your well-being. He might not fully understand your view, and having an open and honest conversation with him can be a step towards finding a solution that works for both of you.
Â
Remember, there are people who genuinely care about your well-being and are here to support you. Don’t hesitate to reach out to friends, teachers, or professionals who can help you through this challenging situation. You’re not alone, and there are ways to explore your options and find a safer, healthier environment for yourself. Please contact the Childline Team at  1800 66 66 66 any time day or night, the service never closes. Or if you would prefer to have a web chat click on the Live Chat tab on our website childline.ie. We are here to support you.

Look after yourself,
