I want to end my life
I’m not very well I want to end my life
Hi there, and thank you for reaching out to Ask Pat.
You have said that you are not very well and that you want to end your own life. It is very brave of you to reach out to someone and express how you are feeling. We are really sorry to hear that you have been feeling like you want to end your own life and we would like to let you know that there are some people who can help you. You have the right to get the support you need. You also have the right to live a happy life. If you feel like you are in immediate danger of hurting yourself or ending your own life, it is important to get the medical help you require at this time. Please contact your local GP or you can call 999 or 112 to get some help straight away from the emergency services or you can present yourself at an A&E Department.
It can be really hard to deal with suicidal thoughts, about wanting to end your own life. Have you spoken to someone you can trust about how you are feeling? Speaking to a family member or trusted adult can make your problems more manageable. However, if you feel like you would be better off talking to a trusted adult that you do not know, maybe you could call Childline on 1800 66 66 66, contact us by text on 50101, or through our webchat at https://www.childline.ie/ . The Childline team is there to listen 24 hours a day, everyday. Our services are free, confidential and non-judgemental.
There are also other organisations out there that can assist you and some really useful information on these websites which may help you understand what is going on for you at the minute: www.pietahouse.ie ; www.jigsaw.ie ; www.yourmentalhealth.ie
Please remember that you do not have to experience this on your own and there are people who will listen to what is going on for you. Again, thank you for reaching out to Ask Pat, you should be proud of yourself as feeling suicidal is something that is not easy to talk about.
Take care of yourself and we hope to hear from you soon,
