Answer

Hi there, you are very welcome to Ask Pat today.

You are very brave to open up and tell us about your two attempted suicides. Such a brave thing to do. You say it is causing you severe anxiety. Also, that you find it hard to get over what you did and you are thinking of others also.

It is understandable that you are feeling anxious and are finding it difficult at the moment. It sounds like you may need some help and support.  You have acknowledged that you are finding it hard to get over what you did and have reached out for help. This is very positive.

You have a right to get help and support for what you are going through. There are support services available  to help you. www.pieta.ie; www.jigsaw.ie; www.mymentalhealth.ie; are some of those services where you may get some support and advice around your thoughts and feelings around suicide. You may also need the help of professionals like doctors or counsellors. You have the right to access these supports also.

Childline have a 24-hour phone service at 1800 66 66 66. We also have a texting service which you can text at 50101, or you may prefer our web chat service which you can access through www.childline.ie . All these services are free, confidential and non-judgmental. Childline is open all day, every day. Childline never closes.

You do not have to go through this on your own. The Childline team would be delighted to hear from you if you would like to contact us.

Thank you for getting in touch with us today and we wish you well for the future. Take care of yourself.
