Pat's Answer

I feel like I have no one

Your Question

I just need someone to talk to. I feel like I have no one. No one understands, what do I do?

Answer

Hello,

We are happy to hear from you. Thank you for sending in your question to Ask Pat.

You want someone to talk to and are not quite sure what to do. It is not easy to have no one there for you. Feeling misunderstood can be very hard, especially if you need someone to be there to support you.

No matter what you are going through, you never have to be alone. You always have the right to express how you are feeling, whether it is a big or small situation.

What would it be like to tell the people in your life that you feel they do not understand you? Is this something that you have tried? You have a right to be listened to by the adults who care for you. If someone at home is not there for you, you would have the right to talk to an adult outside home, somebody that you trust like a teacher, or an extended family member.

If right now, you do not have someone you feel comfortable to speak with, there are other supports there for you, like Childline. We are here 24/7 to listen to you and talk about whatever it is that you would like. You do not have to have an issue to talk to us. Or, if there is something on your mind, we can chat about that too. The number for our free phone service is 1800 66 66 66, our free text line is available at 50101 or maybe you would prefer to chat to us on online through our web chat on www.childline.ie

You are very brave opening up to us about how you are feeling. Well done for reaching out, especially when you have not been able to do that with those who are close to you. We hope you can find some help from this answer and that you can talk to somebody you know. Always remember, you can chat with us here at Childline, anytime, day or night.

Mind yourself,

Pat
