Answer

Hello, you are very welcome to Ask Pat.

Thank you so much for trusting us with your thoughts. We know it can be difficult, but we also know how great it is for young people to share their problems. Talking about and sharing what is going on for you is a big step forward.

You are saying that you do not want to be here anymore but you also do not want to die.

We are sorry that you feel you do not want to be here anymore. It sounds like you are going through a lot. You are very brave to contact Ask Pat today. You are taking the right steps in reaching out and seeking help. You mention you do not want to die, and we are happy that you feel that way as you have the right to live and be happy and safe. You have a right to get help and support. We would really like to chat to you more about what is going on for you that makes you feel that you do not want to be around anymore. How would you feel about contacting us in Childline for a chat? Childline respects that your feelings are unique to you, and you have a right to those feelings.

Have you thought about explaining how you are feeling to your family, a trusted adult, or another person you feel comfortable talking to in your life? This could be an aunt, uncle, teacher, or school counsellor. You do not have to go through this alone.

It is important for your mental well-being that you get the support you deserve. There are organisations that might be of help to you. www.jigsaw.ie; www.yourmentalhealth.ie;  www.spunout.ie  are just some websites that you could look at, which might help you understand what is going on for you or they may be able to offer direction how you can avail of other supports. The Childline website has some articles too, which you can have a read through, www.childline.ie/how-i-feel/

Childline is here for you and we really would love to listen to you. The Childline Team are waiting for you whenever you would like to talk or chat. You are welcome to talk to Childline by phone on 1800 66 66 66, by text on 50101 or through web chat on www.childline.ie. These services are open 24-hours a day, every day and are free and confidential.

We hope that you find some of the above helpful. Remember you have already made a great attempt in reaching out.

We hope to hear from you soon. Take care of yourself,

Pat
