Answer

Hi there,

Thank you for your message.

It sounds like you are going through a difficult time in school. You mentioned that you have been bullied in school and that you reached out for help to both your friend and your teacher. It can be very difficult when you reach out for support but feel as though nothing has been done to help or that you have not been listened too. You might be experiencing many different feelings such as loneliness, frustration, sadness and anger. All these feelings are normal.

It is important to know that nobody deserves to be bullied and it is not your fault that you are. You did the right thing reaching out for help and sometimes reaching out for help is not always easy to do. You are very brave. If you feel that you have not been listened to, then reaching out to another trusted adult in your life might be the next step. A trusted adult might be a parent, carer, aunt, uncle, neighbour or grandparent or it could be another teacher from school or even a sports coach. As a young person, you have the right to be listened to and the adults in your life have a responsibility to ensure you are supported and heard. You can learn more about your rights here: www.childline.ie/your-rights/ . There are also some articles on friendships and bullying which you can read here: www.childline.ie/friends/ and here www.childline.ie/bullying-abuse-safety-and-your-rights/

At Childline we are always here to listen and can talk with you about your thoughts and feelings, whatever you wish to talk about. Childline is always open, it never closes and there is always somebody there to talk to you. We can also look at what options are available for you going forward.
