Answer

Welcome to Ask Pat,

It sounds like you are concerned that you may become homeless in the future or that you are experiencing homelessness at the moment. You would have the right to support and to be safe.

There are some links available around homelessness on our website in the ‘Info and Advice’ section under ‘Home & Families’ that you may find useful.

If you become homeless and you do not have family around, then the Gardai and/or Social Workers would have a responsibility to help and support you.

You can also contact Childline on 1800 66 66 66 24 hours a day to talk about what is going on for you. Or you can contact our text service at 50101 or webchat service, through the website, which are available from 10am to 4 am every day.

Childline is here to listen and support and to help you to explore the options that are available to you in your life, to help you in a way that suits you.

Take care.

Pat
