Alex's Answer

Feeling sad and down

Your Question

Hi Alex, I don’t know what to do. I feel like a disappointment to my parents. Everything in my life is not going the way I would prefer. I feel sad and down all the time, as if there was no hope. I don’t exactly see eye-to-eye with my parents. I can’t talk to them about my problems because I am afraid. I am afraid that they will think something of me. I would love some advice.

Hey there, thanks so much for getting in touch!
We want you to know that you’re not alone. Feeling like you’re disappointing your parents can be really tough, but it’s important to remember that everyone faces challenges in life. It’s ok to feel sad and overwhelmed sometimes, but it’s also important to reach out for support.
Talking to your parents might feel scary, but opening up to them could help them understand what you’re going through. If you’re worried about their reaction, maybe try writing down your feelings first. Remember, they care about you and want to help, even if it doesn’t always seem like it.
If you’re still hesitant with talking to your parents, there are other people you can turn to for support, like friends, teachers, or even a counsellor. You are never alone in this, and there are people who want to help you through it.
Childline is here for you 24/7, whether you need someone to talk to or help exploring your options. You can reach out anytime, without fear of judgment. There will always be someone waiting to take your call or chat, for any reason, day or night.
Take care of yourself, and please get in touch if you would like to talk further,
