Answer

Hey there, welcome to Ask Alex!

Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing your feelings with us. It takes a lot of courage to talk about how you’re feeling, especially when those feelings are tough to handle. We’re here to listen and help as best as we can.

It’s not uncommon to experience shifts in your mood, feeling happy for a while and then feeling depressed or even suicidal. Have you ever spoken to a doctor or mental health professional about this? Sometimes, these feelings can be part of a medical condition like depression, which many people experience. It’s important to know that you’re not alone, and there are professionals who can help you navigate these emotions.

Remember, it’s ok to seek help. Talking to a counsellor or therapist can make a big difference. There are resources available to support you, such as www.aware.ie and www.jigsaw.ie. These organisations provide mental health support and can offer you guidance and understanding. Additionally, having someone trustworthy to talk to, like a friend or family member, can be incredibly helpful.

It’s crucial to reach out when you’re feeling down. Professional support is not only your right but also an important step in taking care of yourself. If you ever need someone to talk to, Childline is here for you. You can contact us by freephone at 1800 66 66 66 or through Messenger at www.childline.ie by clicking on the purple chat icon. We are confidential, non-judgmental, and available 24/7 for any reason, anytime.

If you want to chat more about this or anything else, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always here for you.

Take care of yourself, and know you do not have to face anything on your own,
Alex
