Alex's Answer

Everyone is telling me I have anorexia

Your Question

Everyone is telling me that I have anorexia. I am just 17 girl and I all I want is to skinny and to be loved. Food is not my thing. I don’t deserve it.

Hi there,

Thank you for contacting us with this. You are very brave to reach out to Ask Alex. We would like to gently remind you that you are denying yourself a human right by denying yourself food. If, right now, you cannot see it from a health point of view, please even look at it from an aspect of the United Nations Human Rights where every human has the right to food. You may find it helpful to read more about anorexia, Bodywhys have a lot of information that you may find helpful for this which can be useful in guiding conversations with those around you and your own understanding of anorexia. Here is their website:

We are wondering if you have spoken to a friend or trusted adult about what is going on for you. Talking things through, with someone neutral, can help us to feel better and to see a clearer picture of what is going on, so that you don’t go through these big feelings alone. If you ever need to talk about anything that is going on for you Childline is here for you anytime you need us, day, and night, is where you can live chat to us and you can call us on our freephone service, 1800 66 66 66.

We are here for you and your feelings matter.

Take care,
