Alex's Answer
Don't know what to draw
Your Question
Hey alex. So basically I entered this art competition at the library, Where there’s different winners for each age group.my age group is 12-18. But I’ve seen, heard of, and met some better artists than me that are in that age group. And I think every kid in that age group is better than me. And worst thing is, I don’t know what to draw! Im drawing a digital one but I can’t figure out what to do. The prompt is “adventure starts at your library”. You have to submit inbetween may 15 and June 15th. I know I have a month but I’m freaking out. Time goes quickly. Could you give me advice on what the help ” adventure starts at your library” means? I wanna have like a book picture but like on top of it/faded onto it the actual art. I can’t figure out what to draw though. And WHAT THE HELL DOES “ADVENTURE STARTS AT YOUR LIBRARY” MEAN?
Answer
Hi there,
Thank you for your question. It sounds like you have a lot going on for you at the moment so thank you for reaching out to us.
An art competition sounds like a lot of fun. Is art something that you like to spend time doing? When there are a few people involved in something that you have an interest in, it can be hard not to compare yourself to them, but you are just as talented as the other artists in the competition. You just have to believe in yourself and your abilities.
You mentioned not knowing what to draw, and you mentioned time goes quickly, but you still have a good bit of time until the deadline. The important thing is not to panic! The prompt for the competition is “Adventure starts at your library”, and it sounds like you have an idea of what you would like your art piece to be. The first step to any project is getting started, so you are making some progress.
What do you think of when you hear the word adventure? What does it mean to you? Adventure can mean different things to different people and it’s all about what it means to you and how you can show that in your art. All different types of adventures can be found in library books, and a lot of that can rely on your imagination as well. What kind of adventures do you like to have in the library? Do you like to read adventure books, books about nature, or books about action?
Once you can think about the adventures you like to have, or experience in the library, you will have no problem thinking about what you would like to draw.
